Corporate Disability How to Create Awareness

During his second tour of duty with the U.S. Army in Iraq, John (not his real name) was the target of a suicide attack. A truck, loaded
with thousands of pounds of explosives, detonated
outside a building he was searching and buried him
under two stories of concrete and flaming debris.
John severed a finger, lost an eye and was severely
burned. He spent a year and a half recovering from
his injuries before being discharged.
John was then automatically enrolled in the
National Organization on Disability (NOD) Army
Wounded Warrior (AW2) Careers program, whose
specialists helped him revise his résumé and find a
mentor at PepsiCo (No. 24 on The 2009 DiversityInc
Top 50 Companies for Diversity® list). Thanks to
the career advice he received, John plans to graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington next
