Although the Jena 6 incident provoked the most national outrage, the
increasing use of nooses in the workplace, in schools, and in public places
signifies that Jim Crow is alive and well in this country. DiversityInc
instigated the first national Noose Watch to show you recent noose
incidents and increase public awareness of this dangerous racist trend.
This Noose Watch has attracted national attention and was reprinted in
The New York Times and was featured on NPR’s “Talk of the Nation.” It
includes all incidents we know of that have been reported to authorities.

GEORGIA:
Date: Oct. 24, 2007
Where: Atlanta, Ga.
What happened: A noose is discovered hanging around the neck of a bronze statue of
the slain rapper Tupac Shakur at the Tupac
Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts.
