Program pairs partners with 10 to
15 associates to form personal relationships. To track feedback, coaching and development, PwC’s
Connectivity Program judges the
swiftness with which partners evaluate their associates. Following the
meetings, partners are required to
detail whom they met and the discussion’s highlights. The partners’
involvement is part of their per-
formance review.

develop their professional, leadership and communication skills so
they can maximize opportunity
for promotion.
HOW IT WORKS: At MGM MIRAGE,
No. 40 on the 2006 Top 50, professional development ranges from
mentoring and skill-development
programs, such as Reach and Take
Flight, to language courses. Reach
came about through a partnership
with MGM management and the
employee union. The program
develops the skills of line-level
employees who want to supervise.
Training develops the employees’
technical skills. The union teaches
English. Although there is no guarantee of promotion, Reach has a 75
percent promotion rate, says
Punam Mathur, senior vice president of corporate diversity and
community affairs.
